| And what a brilliant night it was!
The evening started in the surroundings of the new atrium at Holy
Trinity School where guests enjoyed canapés with a free glass of wine or
whisky.
At the appropriate time Oliver Carson played the bagpipes and lead the
guests in to the dining room.
Once all were settled the Salkirk Grace was said by Christine Dunridge
and local resident Oliver McGeady addressed and toasted the haggis.

|
|
On completion of the ceremony the haggis was presented to
the guests by Paul Rivers. |
| Within a very short time of being returned to the kitchen
the haggis was dished up with roast beef and potatoes and enjoyed by all -
including the band!
During the meal recitations of the great poets work were given by
Muriel Quilter and Lynda Camp.
The meal was washed down with lashings of red or white wine and for the
more hardy - whisky. |

Guests were from all walks of life. Many local
residents and councillors were present but the popularity of the event
meant that it drew in residents from further a field including the Alan
Pryce set; six residents from Bookham who had come to party. |
|
After the Tipsy Laird (an excellent pudding) had been eaten and the
coffee served, it was down to Oli to read the Immortal Memory.
Then it was time to reel and tables were moved back and the dancing
began.
Music was by The Footnotes who soon burnt up all the energy they had
just eaten.
The reels started at a slow pace and were relatively easy, even for
those who had had far to much of the good stuff.

 |
 |
|
But things soon got faster .......... |
|
...........and faster.
