2006 Burns Night

The 2nd Charlotteville Burns Night Supper was a great success.  We would like to thank all those who came and supported the event, with special thanks to our sponsors:

Gerrard, P&O Ferries, Paragon Vintners, and Miss P St.J.Brewer.

And of course to Holy Trinity School for the use of their facilities.

Saturday

28th January 2006 at 18:45

Held at Holy Trinity School - Addison Road

By Invitation only £22 per person

Maturing nicely.

The success of last year's Burns Night meant that tickets were sold out weeks beforehand, we had intended to cater for 80 but yet again had to yield to popular demand and entertained 100 guests to a very special evening.  We are sorry that we could not accommodate any more than this and that many were disappointed at not getting a ticket.

NEXT YEAR - BOOK EARLY!

An enjoyable reception in the magnificent atrium of Holy Trinity School.

Guests were offered complimentary drinks of Whisky or Wine.

It was nice to see some old faces returning for yet more "punishment"!

Oliver Carson was again the man with the baggy pipes who lead the guests into the dining hall with a fine bit of piping.

Ever busy, Oliver's next task was to pipe in the haggis.  As an unprompted mark of respect for the beast all the guests stood up?

A worried looking Josh Goodwin .........

.... sees the haggis dispatched

And so to dinner exquisitely cooked by our No.1 chef Jane Thomson

and then the serious bit;

we had two recitals from Burns'

and of course the raffle; this year's prizes were:

  • Open return crossing for 9 and a car, courtesy of P&O Ferries

  • A DAB digital radio courtesy of Gerrard

  • A crisp £50 note courtesy of Pat Brewer

  • A Delaware casserole dish

  • A Molton Brown Gift Box, courtesy of Royal Mail

  • Half bottle of Glenfidich Pure Malt

Then dancing to music by the Hogs Back band, ending a wonderful evening in a very traditional way with ..........

........ the playing of Auld Lang Syne
A big thank you again this year for all who attended and supported this event, and of course our sponsors who help so much to make the evening so special with the donation of raffle prizes etc.

We would especially like to thank Paragon Vintners Ltd, Dartmouth Street, London for recommending a most enjoyable selection of wine and for their kind donation of 100 miniatures of Black Bottle Whisky - a really friendly company to do business with.
