The walk begins at 10:00
and leaves from the site of the Dorking Workhouse, now Dorking Hospital,
meet by the Asquith Nursery or get a lift from the Spike, leaving from
09:15.
A donation of £10 from
each walker will be used to support the Spike Project but if you can get
someone to sponsor you for more that would be even better!

The route skirts south of Dorking town
centre then heads west along the Greensand Way until it meets a Link
path that heads north, up the scarp slope of the downs, to join the
North Downs Way at Ranmore Common.
It then follows the North Downs Way to Newlands Corner.
A shorter walk to the Spike of about 2.5 miles will start from
Newlands Corner at 15:30 - all welcome.
Just beyond Newlands Corner the route leaves the North Downs Way, cuts
north and skirts the south side
of the golf course and Merrow Downs before heading down Warren Road to
the Spike. |

One of the pleasures of the downs at this
time of year are the views. The leaves are still forming on the
broad leaved trees, they are fresh and green and splendid views from the
downs are not yet masked by the heavy green cloak that is forming as
Spring progresses. |
On completion of the walk
there will be a small celebration at the Spike, most probably in the
Studio as the popularity of the Community Centre means its fully booked
at that time!
There may even be the odd bottle of sparkling white wine!
