The
2006 On the Toby sponsored walk
This
year's walk, as last year, was in two stages: 1 - 10 miles from
Dorking Hospital to Newlands Corner
and
then 2 miles from Newlands Corner to the Guildford Spike.

Starting
out; 20 including Ellie the dog (bitch) gathered at the portico of the old
Dorking Workhouse to walk the 12 miles to the Guildford Spike.
Straggling
out of Dorking .............. |

.......
and into the countryside |
Bluebells
were promised and there were carpets of them outside Dorking offering a
mass of colour.

After
the long haul up the side of the downs it was time to regroup before
pushing on for Newlands corner.
A
time for father to have a long talk with son. One of the pleasures
of walking.

The
first 10 miles undertaken it was time to stop for a picnic and meet up
with those walking stage 2. The group size increased to 31
(including 4 dogs) for the stretch to the Spike.
A
quick break on Merrow Downs waiting for the stragglers to catch up. |

Charlotteville
Jubilee Trust do believe that fund raising should be fun and arrival at
the Spike was celebrated with sparkling pink wine
IN
the end the marquee wasn't needed the weather was perfect all day but
