18th July
Opening of the Spike Heritage Centre. Strictly invitation only.
The 18th July 2008 saw the second great Spike opening of the year when MP Anne Milton opened the Spike Heritage Centre. Yet another great afternoon of celebration at the Spike where the Charlotteville Jubilee Trust hosted one of their most lavish events of the year to celebrate the completion of the Spike refurbishment.
A breezy day meant a one man and a girl job to keep the covers on the plaque!
The Heritage Centre was opened by Guildford MP Anne Milton to the applause of Guildford’s Mayor Jennifer Jordan and all who attended
13th March
In association with Holy Trinity Amenity Croup we are hosting a three course luncheon for some of the longer serving residents of Charlotteville. Invitations will be sent to those currently living and who have lived in the area over the past 90 years or so.
The 13th March 2008 saw an event held jointly with Holy Trinity Amenity Group as a celebration for pretty well anything you could mention including Charlotteville being Guildford’s oldest suburb, our residents having a community centre again after 40 years and of course a great opportunity for a fact finding chinwag.
A very special luncheon held for many of the long standing Charlotteville residents. Some who had moved away returned to visit old friends and talk about times gone by. How the area used to be, who owned what shop and who ran the pub.
A delightful time was had by all and it was so nice to meet Doris Bookham at long last. She moved into the Pig and Tater (now the Foresters) at the age of four when her father took it on, it was an honour to talk with her 87 years later!
Holy Trinity Amenity Group blew the dust off the collection of Charlotteville photographs that were first displayed to celebrate the Millennium and again used here to help jog memories

Official Opening of the Spike Community Centre Invitation only.
Opening the Community Centre at last!
After nearly six years of fund raising, planning and hard work it was time to open the Community Centre and invite all those who had helped make the centre possible to a party. In true CJT style the event was enjoyed by all who attended as were the tours of the Heritage centre.
Another plaque is added below the HLF one stating that the Spike Community Centre was opened by Mr Martin Moss and Mrs Patricia Beasley.
Martin was one of our earliest supporters in his roll as Community Halls Advisor for Surrey Community Action a charitable organisation run by Surrey County Council
Pat won the scissors to open the Spike at the Charlotteville Burns Night in 2006, nearly two years before we had a Spike for her to open!
