The ‘Tin Tabernacle’ as St. Luke’s as was affectionately known (it was built of corrugated iron). It was an important social centre. The wedding (1960) was the last to take place there. A local artist saw the building as a setting for the Pre-Raphaelite ‘Light of the World’.
