It’s nearly four years since we last held the Pancake Races and shortly after those races in February 2020, we found ourselves in Lock Down! It’s taken a while to get up and get going again and TBH, if it wasn’t for a certain former Eagle Radio DJ being very insistent (or is that persistent), it’s likely we wouldn’t be going ahead this year!
But, for 2024, we’re back as is Guilfest so, at last, maybe all is returning to normal in the borough
Our Chosen Charity This Year
Had the Races gone ahead in 2022 (which they didn’t due to scaffolding in the High Street and around the Guildhall), then we would have been collecting money for Guildford Street Angels that year. So it only seems fair then that we get going with that collection this year.
Street Angels are a team of volunteers that patrol Guildford town centre on Friday & Saturday nights, providing practical care and support to anyone who has found themselves in a vulnerable state. This could be a result of alcohol, drugs, homelessness, assault, and many more. The Street Angels are there to help people have a good time and to get home safe, with no strings attached.

A Huge thank you to all our sponsors and competitors in 2020
Together we managed to raise £812 for Real Change Guildford at the Pancake Races in 2020
Thank you to the Experience Guildford for covering the costs of the Guildhall and as ever to Peter Gordon for his fantastic support comparing the event..
Here’s to hoping we can do something similar this year!
These races are entirely self funded and run by volunteers both from the local community and from far afield. We rely on the generosity of our many sponsors and the keenness of the town community to keep the races as an enjoyable annual event with many people taking part.
We NEED:
- Sponsors - info here
- Competitors - how to enter here
